SATC2 WEEK

It is here...it is time...it is the week of all weeks as Sex and the City the sequel is about to hit my local picture house and premier across the globe! I love, love, love SATC and I really am such a huge fan and loyal...hello I sat through the first movie!!!
I love the SATC gals...honest (I even have a dog named Cosmo) but geez Louise was that first movie necessary? When 10 minutes is dedicated to Charlotte having toilet trouble you know something is not quite right and the dream team have perhaps lost their way?! Anyways I digress as I have not learnt by my mistakes and I have booked tickets to go watch the second movie of Sex and the city. (Well SJP has twins now...my £15 could be a day at zoo?) I am so hoping it knocks my socks off. I like clothes as much as the next doll, but I need a storyline I can believe in. I am excited!?

and the WINNER is...

NIKKI NAKKI LOU!

Nikki successfully entered my competition to win £30 worth of Tesco clothing vouchers to spend over at Florence & Fred. Congratulations Nikki! You can check out Nikki Nakki Lou blog by clicking HERE. Nikki not only put together an outfit with style and fashion flair, but got so carried away and inspired by the clothing available online with Tesco that she created not one, but three outfit choices.

A huge THANKS to everyone who entered the competition...it was genuinely so hard to pick a winner. You are all stylists in the making...I actually have to confess to placing names in a hat as I could not make the decision alone!

Have a fabulous weekend dolls and happy shopping as always.

Think Frock It's Friday!

Think frock it's friday is an idea created by Lottie who writes a fabulous blog called Lottie Loves. Lottie is a self confessed "domestic diva" and if I was half as cool as her I would be happy. I met Lottie over Twitter (God, I love Twitter). You can follow Lottie @lottieloves1.
Not only is she a hoot and a half, but lovely Lottie hatched a plan last May bank holiday to get as many of you ladies wearing frocks as possible. I along with Lottie encourage this frocking revolution. After all there is nothing like wearing a nice frock to brighten up a dull day. Turns out bank holidays are not enough for you broads so "Think frock it's Friday" is going to be a regular feature over at Lottie Loves and hopefully the blogosphere? It is exactly what it says on the tin...why not wear a frock, it's friday?

There are no rules, or must do's, no age or height restrictions...just pick a dress you feel fabulous in and frock off to start your great weekend!
Each Friday Lottie will offer you some dress inspiration for your wardrobes no matter your size, shape, style or work schedule.
What do you think? Will you join us in the frock movement? Are you already doing it? Go to Lottie Loves to grab yourself a "Think frock it's Friday" blog button and blog all about the dresses you are wearing.

A Fabulous Outfit from Florence&Fred for under £35!

Read all about it! A very fabulous blogger Reena Rai who writes Fashion Daydreams is always tweeting and linking to great fashion finds from the high street and I have to say I am always so impressed as I find it so hard to find anything when I am looking. I was getting to the point where I was giving up on the high street, rebelling against fashion trends and choosing to embrace vintage clothing every day. Which is great if you can do it, but I am only 25 and even though granny chic is so on trend I have admittedly been living in a style rut!

My style is feminine, floral and pretty which also means that this is the best season for me to shop for with all the spring floral prints, pastels and lacy nudes available. Shopping on the real life streets of Britain scares me to hell and with everything readily available online why would you bother with the crowd cardio?

I have heard lots of good things and blog whispers about clothing at Tesco. The tesco label is called Florence and Fred and they have a huge range of clothing available online that is not only on trend, but easy on the pockets too. I am not a fan of fast fashion and I love investing in my clothes so I do believe I shop differently to how I did say a year ago. (I have learnt from my fashion mistakes). I can honestly say the pieces I have spent money on at Tesco will be in my wardrobe come next spring! They are great quality, I have picked pieces that are true to my style and I did this all whilst sitting on the sofa with a cup of tea! You cannot argue with that?!

My whole outfit cost £34! Nothing was on sale, special offer, discontinued stock or stolen. Can you believe it?

With new pieces being added nearly every day Clothing at Tesco should be bookmarked, favourited and double checked daily so you don't miss a thing.

COMPETITION-WIN £30.00 TO SPEND ON CLOTHES!
Do you like my look? Think you can do just as good if not better with £30 in your pocket? The lovely folks at Tesco have given you the challenge of putting together your very own £30 outfit using any and all of the fabulous range available on Clothing at Tesco. The best look will get £30 to spend over at Florence and Fred.
How will you show me the outfit? Pick your Tesco threads, blog about your ideal £30.00 outfit and send me the link via commenting on this post. Best outfit and look will win. Simples.
The winner will be announced on Friday 21st May and all entries must be UK residents as Tesco only deliver within the UK.
Happy shopping!

Crafty Clapham: The Papered Parlour

The Papered Parlour is a cool crafty haven in Clapham for people who want to make do, mend, learn and create.

“With a nod towards the ‘Make do and Mend’ approach of the 1940’s The Papered Parlour’s unique classes make use of recycled materials where ever possible, spreading the sustainability message gently, at the same time as offering good old fashioned fun”. The Papered Parlour website.

The Papered Parlour classes cover photography, quilting, screenprinting, dress making and even silver smithing and that is just for starters. I found out about The Papered Parlour on my quest to find an exciting workshop for dress making. I still need help in the pattern cutting department and definitely need guidance with my sewing skills or lack of so I am really interested in going along for a creative nosey. I love that The Papered Parlour also offers to teach you how to make a dress using a vintage singer sewing machine whilst you enjoy some afternoon tea and cake. What is not to like about this?

If making a dress from scratch seems daunting then The Papered Parlour also offer a class called: DRESSMAKING PART 1: Make Me a Domestic Sewing Goddess. Where the teacher will teach you the basics from threading your sewing machine to hand sewing. This class looks great if you want help with button holes, hems and alterations.

I am definitely getting myself to The Papered Parlour as soon as I can. I am always so jealous when I hear tales of people creating their own clothing and I long for the skills to make my very own dress to frock around in. Watch this space and if The Papered Parlour sounds right up you alley then click any of the links above to go straight to their fabulous website where there are more pictures and details about classes.

Picture from The Papered Parlour website used with permission.

This dress is bananas!

Just added to Natasha Bailie Vintage Clothing Company: A fruity little number!

An original 50s day dress covered from shoulder to hem in fruit.

Do you remember or know of Carmen Miranda? (pictured above). Carmen sure loved her fruit and chose to wear it on her head, on her chest, on her stomach and I am guessing she wore grapes on her ankles? All whilst dancing and singing. Now that was multi tasking.
However perhaps you would like a more subtle approach to wearing fruit?
I give you the "1950s fruit prom dress" available online over at NBVCC. Click HERE for a closer look at this fabulous fifties day dress.

1960s Vintage Pink Cocktail Dress, Size 10, £85: Just Added to NBVCC

In a word....DREAMY.

Just added to Natasha Bailie Vintage Clothing Company; a 1960s vintage cocktail dress. In bright bubblegum pink with a matching silk bow band belt.

With its thin pleated skirt and what I can only describe as cupcake frosting detail on the hem this dress is simply heavenly.

Click HERE to view this vintage dress in all its fabulous glory on my online boudoir over at NBVCC.

Silk & Sawdust: Vintage Chic with a Modern Tweak!

"The head-turning style of the vintage dress, the luxury of today’s fabric, hand-tailoring for the fit we love now: Silk & Sawdust gives a new twist to the 20th century frock." - SilkandSawdust.com

Silk and Sawdust is not just another vintage reproduction website, but a vintage style website with a difference. Not a rockabilly polka dot or skull print to be seen...the designer; Claudia Orrell, 35, is a London-based entrepreneur with a unique approach to fashion. Orrell is inspired by vintage dresses, vintage sewing patterns and the little details that go into making a dress glamorous and unique. Claudia takes her time in getting the design, cut and fabric just right for the dress and always has the girl who will be adorning her fabulous designs of silks, chiffons and lace in mind.

Claudia gives a lot of credit for her designs to her time spent in Thailand. Orrell lived there in 2007 and 2008 and found it to be a buzz with creativity and a place where she could spend her days designing and creating. Thailand tailoring and fabrics are second to none for quality and design. Claudia now spends her time between Bangkok and London developing and selling her collections.

Now the Silk and Sawdust dress that caught my eye...I think you know why...

This dress designed by Claudia Orrell is based and inspired by the dress Grace Kelly wears in the film High Society where Frank Sinatra sings "Your sensational" to Grace.

What do you think? I was lucky enough to be invited over to Claudia's boudoir to see the dress for myself as Claudia spotted me dribbling over the Grace Kelly dresses on the BBC news at London's V&A museum. It is such a good reproduction dress. I was so thrilled that someone finally recreated my dream dress and with such respect for the original design. The resemblance is uncanny and if i was long and lean I would of snapped this dreamy dress right up. This particular dress is made to order, but could be with you in less then a month. Impressive?

Silk and Sawdust also offer a range of skirts, tops, jackets, coats and accessories. All inspired by vintage fashion and style. Every decade is included so there really is something for every kind of gal.
All the Silk and Sawdust designs are based on vintage pieces or patterns from the 20th Century, recreated in new fabrics. They are hand-tailored by wonderfully skilled dressmakers in Bangkok and each design is only available in small numbers, giving customers that sense of discovery and exclusivity.

The Silk and Sawdust website has just launched and is alive and kicking. Click HERE to go straight to Silk and Sawdust.
