"Doing the Alber" : Lanvin Fall Campaign Music video

When you think Lanvin what comes to mind?

I am guessing it is not music artist Pitbull, famous for creating the word "badonkadonk" referring to J-LO's rear. Well J-LO and behold this video for the Lanvin Fall/Winter 2011/2012 campaign. Starring dancing models; Karen Elson, Raquel Zimmermann and of course, Alber Elbaz doing what can only be described as "doing the Alber."

Yes, Alber Elbaz dancing. If you have ever wondered what supermodels look like dancing then press play...

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue... Vintage!

I may well be biased, but this dress makes me grin like a cheshire cat. From ear to ear. Not only is it a blooming beautiful vintage dress, but its bright blues and green hues can make even the dullest grey day feel more colourful.

Dress this 1950s vintage prom dress with a burnt orange cardigan, tights and ankle boots and voile! autumn vintage outfit fit for the lady of the manor.

What Shall We Do Next?

Its that time of year when the skies look less blue, you start wondering where you left your autumn coat and the kids go back to school.
I love autumn....the colours of the leaves, fresh sunny days, Sunday roasts...why do I live in Singapore again?
I am really going to miss autumn this year. Singapore has no seasons to speak of...we arrived here less than 10 months ago so last year really was my last British autumn. Please send postcards.

Having no seasons means I have nothing to measure time by and I still cannot believe we have been living here for this long already. It still feels like we just arrived!
Time really does fly when you are having fun. It is crazy to look back on the year and realise what we have achieved.
We have finished this years wedding season cycle, dressed many fabulous leading ladies for various vintage events and even created our first collection of vintage reproduction dresses! A dream of mine since I started NBVCC over three years ago.

So I am very excited to announce we are creating another collection for this autumn and winter for all you vintage loving party girls who have Christmas parties and cocktail dinners to attend.
Just like last time I want to ask you for your feedback. What do you think we should do next? What kind of fabrics? What changes should be made to the dresses? Sleeves? Length? Bigger sizes?

Your opinion counts and will reflect the next collection so leave a comment below and I will get the mood-boards out.

Rear Window Dress

This striking 1950s vintage prom dress just arrived at Natasha Bailie HQ and has already been added to www.natashabailie.com

As you must know by now I, Natasha Bailie have a huge addiction to anything Grace Kelly and when I saw this dress it instantly reminded me of the dress Grace wears in the movie, Rear Window. It is my all time favourite movie and that black and white dress is iconic.
Of course this vintage dress is not the same in shape, but it is from the same era and has the striking black body with the contrasting white hemline. I also love the embellishments on the full prom skirt.

Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe

More and more pictures are now being released of Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe from the upcoming movie called "My week with Marilyn."

The British film, which hits cinema screens in November, is based on the book of the same name by Colin Clark who worked as an assistant on the set of The Prince and the Showgirl in 1957, which Marilyn shot in England while on honeymoon with playwright Arthur Miller. The film follows the story of Clark’s week with Monroe as he chaperoned her around the UK.

Will you go see it? What do you think of the picture above? I would love to know what you think of Michelle Williams playing Marilyn Monroe. Leave a comment below.

Pan Am to Rival Mad Men?

Are you getting excited for the TV series "Pan Am?" Pan Am is the Sony produced drama that is airing this Fall on ABC. Set to rival shows like "Mad Men" and "Boardwalk Empire."

Pan Am is the 1960s - set drama that revolves around the pilots and flight attendants of the once iconic airline. When being an Air Stewardess was one of the most glamorous occupations. It was a time when air stewardesses were proud to welcome passengers on board and when passengers were proud to travel. Expect lots of girdles, cheeky passenger requests, crew gossip, secrets and inflight entertainment.

The show will feature many familiar faces including Margot Robbie (neighbours), Michael Mosley (Scrubs) and star Christina Ricci (Mermaids, Addams Family.)

Christina Ricci was photographed filming for the show in Manhattan this past week wearing a bright prom dress. The cast and crew of Pan Am are being spotted everywhere this month as they film on location for the show. What do you think? Will you be watching?

Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered

News just in....last week CBS and Sony announced that they are developing a reboot/remake of the 1960s sitcom "Bewitched."
My first thought was "Why would you remake something so perfect?" and my second was "I hope it is a lot better than the Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell movie."

Because if the TV networks are now "remaking" all our beloved series than it best be worth it. Can you imagine a reboot of "I Love Lucy?"

If you have never seen the original 60s Bewitched show I will give you a quick summary of the concept: The show is about a witch who marries a mortal and tries to lead the life of a typical suburban housewife. Played by Elizabeth Montgomery, Samantha tries to forsake her magical powers to live a "normal" life, but of course every day life needs a little magic and where there is magic, trouble ensues.

So what do you all think? Are you bewitched, bothered and bewildered about the revamp of Bewitched? Or are you looking forward to seeing how this one plays out?
Who can you even think of to play Samantha?

London's First Vintage Department Store : Blitz!

London is getting its first vintage department store. Located just off Brick Lane (where else?) “Blitz” will open its doors this Friday.

Established by various vintage dealers the vintage department store will sell clothing for both men and women from every decade and designer you can think of. Boasting an impressive collection of vintage Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, Biba and Ossie Clark the vintage store will really have everything all under one roof!

The 5-room warehouse space covers 9,000 sq foot and will not only stock vintage clothing and accessories, but vintage furniture, books, records, luggage, sunglasses, trinkets and much, much more. What else could a vintage loving gal need? Something new and old for London’s East end.

Pink Roses Vintage Garden Party Prom Dress: Just Added to NBVCC

Many vintage dresses come and go through Natasha Bailie Vintage offices, but none so glamorous as this pink rose vintage garden party prom dress. I think I am in LOVE with this 50s vintage dress. Covered in pink roses with long green stems...this dress screams "I'm a girl!"

Erdem? No, No...Vintage Darling!

Do you remember the Erdem red lace prom dress?

I cannot promise you will look like this.(See pic above)

Unless you were just born or have in fact been living in a black hole there is no way you could of escaped the Erdem frock mania. A million copies were in every high street store, every celebrity has flashed flesh in the red lace dress and every blogger created a wish list post.

Even Alexa Chung & Michelle Williams LOVE
the little red lace dress...

With designer dresses you are looking at designer prices, but looked what just arrived at Natasha Bailie Vintage Clothing Company; a little red lace vintage prom dress

It is almost identical and better still it is an original 50s vintage dress so you can tell your friends Erdem was inspired by you!

What do you think? I love the scalloped neck!

Dorothy Perkins: Pretty Woman Dress

These pictures are not the greatest, but by Gere you get it right?

I am a huge Pretty Woman fan (who isn't?) and on todays shopping trip I found and quickly purchased this spotty sun dress by Dorothy Perkins for £39.50.

Dorothy Perkins call the colour of the dress "Rust", but I would say it is more copper and true to the Pretty Woman pictures above.

It is possibly the closest copy I have seen to the spotty dress Julia Roberts wears in the film Pretty Woman. It is the same colour, shape and all that is missing is the hat, white gloves and Richard Gere.
