Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas & Thank You

Merry Christmas everybody! It has been quite a year in the Bailie house and we have lots to celebrate and look back on with happy faces this year. I think I even lost weight. (Been on the resolution list for the last few years).


Mr.Bailie and I moved across seas to Singapore, travelled half of Asia with plans for even more foreign adventures for 2012.  We had a website make over so the shop looks even more fabulous for my lovely customers and I designed and created my very own vintage style dress collection. A dream I have had since I started selling vintage dresses online in 2008. 


If that was enough we have been so lucky to have found great new friends in Singapore to share our Asian adventures with, which has made Singapore feel just like home. We miss all our UK pals and cannot wait to see more of you here in 2012, thanks to all of you for sending us off in style and making such an effort to keep in contact with us. (Especially as we are in the future...timezones).

Lana Del Rey Phenomenon : Born to Die

This has nothing to do with anything really - except I like it and well...this is my blog and I tell you what I like and you say "rubbish' or 'great'. Thats how this works right? Anywho this is Lana Del Rey - if you do not know her yet...you will. Her album is not released until the end of January 2012 (the future), but her song Video Games and Born to Die have already raised the American singers profile and travelled down many an ear canal. 

Her stage name is a combination of the Hollywood actress Lana Turner and the Ford Del Rey and she calls herself the "gangsta Nancy Sinatra". 

So what do you kids think? Have you already bought into the Del Rey phenomenon? I was quick to compare her to Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine, but her sound is different and her voice is mesmerising. I strangely want to go and watch Twin Peaks after hearing Born to Die. 

W.E Official Trailer : A Film by Madonna

A film directed and co written by Madonna...W.E the official trailer has been released. What do you think? 

After watching The Kings Speech I have been excited by this love story and after watching the film trailer above I simply can't wait to see the gorgeous vintage fashion and fabled romance play out. 

So what is W.E about...

W.E. is a passionate tale about the search for true love in the modern world, viewed through the prism of one of history's most fabled romances. The year is 1998, and Manhattan is abuzz with anticipation about the upcoming auction of the estate of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.  

But the auction is far more than a diversion for Wally Winthrop, a transplanted Southerner trapped in an unhappy and abusive marriage. Transfixed by the exquisite artefacts of the Windsors' lives, Wally becomes obsessed with the love story of Wallis Simpson, the chic, charismatic American who captured the heart of King Edward VIII.  As she learns more about the sacrifices Wallis made in choosing to be with Edward, Wally finds the courage to follow her own heart and create her own happiness. 

Madonna co wrote and directed the film and had an amazing production team behind her, who have been responsible for great films. Including Walk the Line, Young victoria and A Single Man.

Holly Golightly's Manhattan Townhouse is For Sale

The Manhattan townhouse where Holly Golightly lived in Breakfast at Tiffany's has gone on the market for $5.85 million. The exterior of the New York brownstone played a huge role in the 1961 movie and it is unknown how much of the interior was used in the film or if Mickey Rooney is still the landlord or pretending to be Asian.

The brownstone is located on 196 East 71st Street and is split into two apartments so you can always rent one out to keep up with the mortgage payments. Failing that you could try asking for $50 when you need to use the powder room.

Kim Kardashian Buys Elizabeth Taylor's Jewels for $65,000!

It has been reported that the Elizabeth Taylor jewellery collection auction has brought in a record breaking $116 million! It has broken the record for a single-owner jewellery auction. Damn that Dame loved her sparkles. 

Turns out that one of those involved in the Christie's bidding war for Elizabeth's jewels was none other than fellow bling lover, Kim Kardashian who secured 3 Lorraine Schwartz bracelets by spending $65,000. (Just a stocking filler for Kourtney and Khloe maybe?)


Kim Kardashian has gone on record before about her love for Elizabeth Taylor and seems to be following in the legends foot steps with her second divorce after being married for just 72 days. The bracelets bought by Kim K were estimated to sell for $8,000. Damn that lady really loves to sparkle!

Sienna Miller To Play Tippi Hedren

Sienna Miller has been cast to play the role of Tippi Hedren in a new BBC drama based on the Hollywood star and Alfred Hitchcock's relationship. The drama will show director, Alfred Hitchcock's infatuation with Tippi in the 1960s. 

Hitchcock first spotted Hedren in a TV commercial and apparently became "obsessed". The legendary director then cast Tippi as his leading blonde in the film 'The Birds'. Hitchcock was known for his blonde leading ladies casting Grace Kelly, Eva Marie Saint, Janet Leigh, Kim Novak and Tippi Hedren.

Gwyneth Hughes, the writer of the BBC2 drama, explained why it has taken a while for Tippi to talk about her affair with Hitchcock.
'At the time, in the early 1960s, the American star suffered in silence. But now, at the age of 81, her wisdom and insights have helped me to put her real life ordeal on to the screen.'
'Everyone knows Hitchcock was keen on his blondes. Unfortunately for Tippi, he developed a twisted and obsessive love for her that left her feeling isolated and terrified.
'Today we would call it sexual harassment but that concept had not been accepted back then.' 

Sienna Miller will star opposite British actor Toby Jones as Alfred Hitchcock. The film airs next year on BBC2 and will be called "The Girl".

Eco Friendly Vintage Style Dresses by Livia Firth

Livia Firth is known for her "Green Carpet Challenges" which she writes about on her blog online at Vogue.com. Oh and she is married to Colin Firth the actor don't you know. Firth's blog documents Livia's "green" challenges to find fabulous eco frocks for red carpet events with husband Colin, like the Golden Globes and the Oscars, both of which she attended last year. You may remember she caused quite a stir in vintage town after butchering/recycling (however you see it) eleven vintage 1930s gowns to create one dress for the Oscars. 


Well after all that jazz, Livia Firth has created her own capsule collection of sustainable dresses in partnership with Reclaim to Wear, an organization that helps designers recycle textile surplus and waste into high-end garments. The dresses are available to buy now online at yoox and can be yours for the large sum of $832!!


Firth was apparently inspired by a 1950s polka-dot frock that her mother bought in Italy, when she was 8 years old. The dress is still hanging in her closet some 33 years later.
